Fire in Harvard Illinois - Brings out trucks from 24 jurisdictions, as far away as Milwaukee
Fire in downtown Harvard
Downtown Harvard was the scene of a major fourth alarm fire Saturday night, fire officials confirmed.
Around 8 p.m. the Harvard Fire Department was called to Ayer Street after a fire in a commercial building was reported, a Harvard fire official who declined to be named, said. “[Harvard] has what we would consider a major fire going on in their downtown,” the official said.
“[The firefighters] have been working on trying to control the fire and contain the fire to its building of origin.”
So far no injuries have been reported.
By raising the fire alert to the fourth alarm, the Harvard Fire Department was able to get help from neighboring towns in order to put out the blaze.
Harvard firefighters were working for at least 20 minutes to put out the fire.
